May is Mental Health Month. This is such an important topic. Mental illness does not discriminate. I was first diagnosed with mental illness when I was in my 20’s but I remember seeing the signs when I was in my teens. Throughout the years I have been on many different medication combinations and had many different mental hospital inpatient stays. There have been good days and there have been bad days. Today I have my mental illnesses mainly under control but there are good days and bad days. I have realized how important it is to ask for help if you believe you have a mental illness. Depression, anxiety, and other mental illnesses are very real. Talk to your doctor or trusted adult. Get the help you need early. Don’t let the stigma hold you back.
