Change has Come to the Old Line State

As some of you may know my platform is emergency preparedness and prevention. Last week the state of Maryland announced that in all 23 counties you can now text 9-1-1 if you are unable to call. This is an amazing advancement in the ability for the safety of all Marylanders. The ability to text 9-1-1 gives those who are Deaf, Hard of Hearing, or other the ability to get help in an emergency. While no one ever wants to have to call or now text 9-1-1 it is now an option for all of in Maryland. Remember that if you do have to call or text 9-1-1 try to stay calm and answer all of the dispatchers questions fully. Now remember call if you can text if you can’t if you ever find yourself in an emergency in Maryland.

Hello my name is Amber Haight and I am your Miss Old Line State (Maryland) 2021. I am from a small town on Maryland's Eastern Shore. I love to volunteer and serve my community. I am a volunteer firefighter and EMT. I have served my community this way since I was 16 years old. I am a part of Alpha Phi Omega a co-ed service fraternity. I am also involved a a leader with Younglife a Christian organization sharing our faith with those who might not normally hear it. I work with the Capernuam group within Younglife which is our special needs group. I also volunteer with best buddies. Some causes that are close to my heart are supporting our first responders, specials needs organizations, and organizations that give back to youth today.
