Essential Worker

I am an essential worker. I am on the frontlines of fighting the COVID-19 virus face to face. I have had lots of people ask me what its like. I answer them all the same: It’s scary. However, no matter how scary it is, I have to fight with a brave face. Part of being a paramedic is going into places many people would run away from. This doesn’t make me love my job any less. I believe that I was put on this Earth to help people and my calling was paramedic.

I have been in EMS (Emergency Medical Services) since 2003. I have seen many things but this is by far one of the scariest. I can’t stress enough that the shelter in place orders and wearing masks are to protect people. It’s not about being mean. I beg you, if its not essential please don’t go out. Not only are you putting yourself at risk of getting sick, you are putting others at risk. Hand washing is very important as well.

Please take care of yourself and stay healthy during this time of national crisis. Remember that all the essential workers are doing their best to keep their brave face on and to help keep things running smoothly.
