Healthcare Heroes

Life has been stressful during the Covid-19 pandemic. All Skilled Nursing Facilities have not been allowed visitors since began. This means our Resident’s loved ones are not allowed to visit. As a Nurse, I have watched people who are usually full of life deal with depression. I have watched people with Dementia act out because they cannot process what is happening. Thankfully the Medical staff treat the residents like family. After all we usually spend more time with our residents then our families.
This week a drive by parade was organized by our facility with our resident’s families. Quarantine continues but Social distancing followed. Great way to uplift someone until once again we are allowed to have visitors!
Hi Angela,
Drive-by parades are such a wonderful idea to help remind people that they are loved and cared for. I’ve noticed that a lot of people are starting to implement this idea in order to help people celebrate their birthdays, graduations, and other accomplishments. It’s such a kind gesture and truly shows how much people care about bringing happiness to other people’s lives, despite the current situation. I hope you and everyone involved had a great time. I look forward to hearing about all of the other creative ways you choose to help out your community.
With much love and respect,
