Today is Read Across America Day! Reading is such an amazing thing; books give us so many things like entertainment and knowledge. Illiteracy is a growing problem in America; more and more kids are not learning how to read. When I was younger, I was blessed to be an advanced reader. However, many kids these days struggle even with the basics of reading. I hope to shine a light on this problem and advocate for a more literate America. I have decided to volunteer as a reading buddy for a local school, so I will be spending times during the month reading to kids.
